Retsu Aburame's Tanto

Description/Abilities: While the blades themselves are normal, the way Retsu can wield them is far from ordinary. With threads woven by his insects attached to the hilts, Retsu can attack with these weapons at close or far range, tangling limbs and weapons while striking with the blades. In addition, Retsu can channel his chakra down these threads so he can manoeuvre them in ways that he could not through his usual movements. He uses his legs as well, twirling his lower half to make a second front of attack with a second pair of tanto. The thread itself is made of a tough, pale material, difficult to see in the midst of combat and hard to cut when Retsu is channelling his chakra through it (although a sharp blade could cut through them if it too was imbued with chakra).

History: Originally obtained to defend himself if an enemy got too close, Retsu realised the potential for a deadly new form of attack. Having his insects weave a thread around the hilts the same way they make cocoons, he found that he could adapt his fighting style with the tanto to long ranges as well as close quarters. It wasn't long before he obtained a second pair and started using his legs as well as his hands when wielding the blades.

Appearance: The four tanto are identical and have plain black hilts.

Not really sure... but, the 'chakra strings' a jutsu?

The range is about fifteen feet.

Not a jutsu no, it's just a thread made by his Kikaichu that he channels his chakra down to manipulate the blades. ^^
