Personality: Maino is a strong-willed and emphatic person who puts all her heart and effort into the things she does. Enthusiastic about machinery, Maino is most at home near cranking gears, whirring bearings and the smell of metal and becomes absolutely giddy when given the opportunity to interact with and learn about such things. She is stubborn and straightforward, often calling others out for their weaknesses and delusions. Though she shares this trait with Emi, Maino is a bit more tactful with her honesty and usually only displays this side of herself to her closest relations. Maino's stout heart allows her to make difficult and dangerous choices very easily so long as they coincide with her strong sense of duty and morality.

Kindhearted and empathetic, Maino is the type of person who consistently tries her best to aid and support the people around her. She is very sensitive to the pain of others and has been known to cry frequently on behalf of people who won't cry for themselves, earning her the distinction of being a bit of a "crybaby" in her teammates' eyes. As one who values family (immediate and extended) above most other things, Maino is a bit of a worrier and concerns herself with the welfare of people she cares about. It is likely this care that makes her so popular with her clients in Konoha, all of whom are greatly moved by the attention to personal detail that she willingly gives to each of them.

However, on the other side of her sensitive and emotional nature is a temper that easily rivals - if not overshadowing - even that of Emi Isuzu. When insulted, hurt or embarrassed, Maino is prone to lash out violently - though typically the victim of such tantrums is Shikaru.

History: As a child, Maino Yamanaka was always the more eccentric type of child. She was the kind that liked to play with the blocks and set them up to look like various different things, such as buildings and towers, so it wasn't much of a surprise to see the way that she turned out. Even before enrolling in the Konoha Ninja Academy, Maino was starting to develop certain skills in Weaponry that was seen in not many people.

Once she had finally enrolled in the Konoha Ninja Academy, Maino would quickly grow lost in the world of ninja school, often getting low marks in things her Ninjutsu, Taijutsu and Genjutsu. Soon enough, one of her teachers would recommend that Maino get help from a tutor in order to learn these skills with a bit of extra help and a smaller set of kids to distract her. Once she started taking the tutor lessons, Maino still couldn't understand what was being explained to her. Noticing she was ready to give up, a boy named Shikaru Nara decided to offer his assistance.
