Keiji Akira

Keiji was born approximately 5 minutes before his twin brother, Reiji by a woman named Miyako Akira and a man named Kumodo Akira, Leader of the Akira clan. Growing up, both brothers were told that they were destined for great things due to their heritage and supposed birthright. Keiji didn’t care much for it and preferred to relax rather than go for something as meaningless as that, but Reiji had other plans and would work extremely hard to become a future leader of the Akira clan.

Once they were of age, both Keiji and Reiji entered the Ninja Academy with high hopes and dreams. Well, Reiji did, Keiji simply entered because it was tradition for a clan member to enroll in the academy. Keiji did actually put some effort in his work though so that he wouldn’t hear anything from his father or clan for that matter. Reiji put his all into it so that he would be able to impress his fellow clan as well as classmates to see his worthiness.

Four years passed and both boys graduated from the Ninja Academy and couldn’t wait for graduation. They both went to orientation to find out that they were going to be placed into teams of three, though they were placed on different teams. Keiji’s squad was a group of fairly moderate shinobi with a lot of promise and potential, as told by the squad’s Jounin leader. They went on several small missions before going on harder ones around a year later. By then, Keiji rarely made contact with his brother as he slowly changed from a lazy like ninja to a hard worker that was intensely focused.

By the time that the year passed by since he became a Gennin, Keiji’s entire team actually ranged from moderate to talented and were eligible to be nominated to the Chuunin Exams. After their leader informed them of their nomination, the team was ecstatic to show off their skills as the self proclaimed top Gennin team in all of Konoha. After a few more days of pure training, the team went off into the Chuunin Exams, where Keiji met up with Reiji to see that he must have improved as well for he seemed a bit different.

As the Chuunin Exams went on Keiji did his best to advance and help his team out in any way they could. He had actually offered help to his twin brother but he refused, saying that since they weren’t on the same team, they were enemies. After the first few stages of the exams, a tournament was held and both brothers were the only members of their team that actually made it that far. A little, bit to their surprise, both sibling were pitted against each other, truly testing their abilities and after a hard fought battle, Keiji came up victorious. In the end, they were both promoted to Chuunin but that didn’t satisfy Reiji.

Years passed and soon, Reiji started seeing a girl named Satsuki Kanoshi, though Keiji preferred not to get involved in their business or relationship. They were also both promoted to Jounin ranks and Keiji would mostly spend time with his now Chuunin teammates rather than with his brother or family. Soon enough, Satsuki started to come at Keiji with explanations that Reiji was changing for the worst, like he had plans that did not spell right with her.

It was then informed to Keiji for the first time that after much thought and evaluation, he was nominated to become leader of the Akira clan since his father went into retirement. Keiji was proud that they would select him of all people to lead the clan. As soon as he went to his brother to tell him the news, Reiji challenged him to a dual. Confused by this, Keiji started to refuse to fight his brother, but then Reiji informed him that an Akira clan member cannot refuse a dual for their title, it was part of the Akira clan code.

So Keiji was forced into a battle between him and his brother with the entire clan present. The battle was a hard fought one that lasted over an hour, but just like in the Chuunin Exams, Keiji came out on top. After this, both were hospitalized until they were due for release 3 days later, but Reiji was never released because on his last day before release, he was reported missing and left a letter stating that he was no longer a ninja for Konoha.

After an extremely confused Keiji was released from the hospital, Keiji went to the first person he thought had a right to know, Satsuki. After giving her the news, she broke down and told him that she was pregnant with Reiji’s child. Surprised by this, Keiji offered her any support on the baby and to promise not to tell anyone that the baby was really Reiji’s child.

After the nine months of pregnancy were up, Satsuki gave birth to a baby boy. As thanks for helping her so much, Satsuki decided to name the child “Kenji” because, not only was he her most prized jewel, but she wanted to name him after the man that helped with the child’s development. Soon after, Satsuki told Keiji that she had developed an extreme liking towards him and they started developing their own relationship.

5 years had passed by and Satsuki had fallen terribly ill and, though Keiji didn’t want to accept it, Satsuki was bound to die. With her last breath, Satsuki asked for two things, that he take good care of Kenji and that he not tell him of his real father. After Satsuki died, Keiji went into a deep depression that caused him to gain a personality of withdrawal, though he continued to keep both promises to Satsuki.

Keiji went on to put on extra hours within his daily training as an outlet for her death as a pay of respect to her and raise himself high among the ranks of Konoha while fulfilling his duties as leader of his clan. He would also try to make sure that Kenji would be the best he could be for the same reasons. Though his methods were not the most care giving ones, Keiji still loved Kenji as if he was his own child, just having a much different way of showing it than usual. To his private delight, Keiji did see his adoptive son grow into a strong young man who would make it high within the ranks, though a cluster of events in his lifetime seemed to corrupt Kenji's mindset, eventually causing the young talent to leave his village, leaving Keiji's now adoptive granddaughter in his care.
