The Hidden Mist Village is one of the more powerful ninja villages in the world, allowing its leader to be called a "Kage." As such it is one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. It's miltary was surprisingly one of the best among the Five Great Shinobi Countries. Their rule was very ruthless, even down to the academy at one time. It's nickname was originally "Village hidden in the bloody mist".
After the poltical and physical destruction of Kirigakure, it is nothing more than a shell of it's former self. There is no current kage that has control over the village The economic situation is stable due to the Daimyo's interference but there are few shinobi that truly remain.
