 |  The Hidden Cloud Village is one of the more powerful ninja villages in the world, allowing its leader to be called a "Kage." As such it is one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. Approximately 9 years before the start of the series, Hidden Cloud and Leaf were locked in war. The two countries decided to sign a peace treaty to end the conflict.

Caranore | |  Located somewhere within the country's many mountain ranges is a valley called the Valley of Clouds and Lightning (Unraikyō). It's a water filled valley covered in clouds or fog.

Soren Kiyomeru | |  In the Land of Lightning, there is a remote island by the name if Shinsou Island that serves as a training ground for Kumogakure ninja. It is considered to be the equivalent of Konoha's Forest of Death. Despite being described by the Great Toad Sage as a paradise, it is anything but, with signs of death and battle everywhere and large, ferocious animals populating the island. The Falls of Truth can also be found on the island. The island is protected by a giant squid, which attacks anything that approaches, and a high-level barrier technique.
