Last Minute Training

After grabbing the genin from the gates, Shihouin had him follow him until they reached the training grounds. He’d picked a random grassy lot near a river which had a few other Chuunin and genin training on it from around the leaf village. They were at least 50m away, nothing he had to worry about. Shihouin stood idle for a second, wondering and thinking back on all of the techniques he needed and the techniques that he had planned to train. His mind fell on Sanzen’s Mole Hiding technique, one he had seen her perform with his Sharingan a countless number of times. Putting his hands together, he focused on the memories of her and her chakra flow, remembering how she molded her chakra together to create the jutsu.

It was similar to his own technique except that his style had been adapted for underground stealth and surprise, where hers had been more tailored to chakra conservation. Once he performed the hand signs, Shihouin initated the jutsu as quickly as possible. He dipped own below the groun, passing through the surface of the earth as if he had phased through it. He tested the technique out some, making a few tunnels underneath the ground before rising back up. One jutsu down.


Shihouin moved back over to the edge of the river, standing next to it and looking down in the water. Before he stepped out over it he reached for one of the pockets in his juban and pulled out a small scroll he had checked out from the shinobi library. It was a detailed explanation on the water walking technique, one which he had never learned but would need. After reading through the contents of the scroll with his Sharingan, he activated chakra at his feet like the scroll instructed. He placed one foot out over the water carefully, halfway sinking his foot onto the water. Getting a feel for the chakra required, he tried again this time, successful as he stepped out on both feet, standing atop the water at ease. He walked around for a bit, focusing the chakra continuously through his feet.

The next technique up was a doton technique that he figured would be useful for holding opponents down. Instead of using the decapitation technique to hold his opponents underneath the earth, Shihouin would apply that same basic principle to the earth itself with his hands. In a sense, he would create arms with earth and use them to trap and hold the opponent down while he could gain time to perform an attack. He didn’t focus in making them exceptionally strong, just enough to buy him time for a quick attack if he could hold the opponent down.

Putting his thoughts into play, Shihouin performed the needed hand sign as he stood in front of the genin he had gathered. Since he was in contact with the ground by standing on top of it, he let the molded chakra flow through his feet and into the ground. There weren’t many hands, but there was definitely enough to cause an issue when moving. Two of the hands grabbed on ankle and a stronger one grabbed the other remaining one. They pulled the genin down into the earth about two feet, covering his knee at mid-thigh. If he was strong enough, he could simply break the jutsu by breaking the arms, but that would require quick thinking and reaction. Either way, it would be a good technique for snagging and tripping up opponents.

The next technique he had in mind would be used to capitalize on his earth jutsu. Since the earth was a major blindspot of almost anyone, the quicker he could rise out of the earth, the quicker he could surprise and take advantage of an enemy that had not been prepared to deal with him. Shihouin figured this technique wouldn’t be strong at all, but more of a supplementary technique that aided in pushing him out of the earth as quickly as possible. Luckily for him, he had two techniques that didn’t break the ground when he slipped under or came up, so surprise would work more often than not.
Forimg the hand signs for the Mole Hiding technique he’d stolen from Sanzen, Shihouin put it to good use as he slipped under ground. He traveled for a bit, making sure the genin had no clue where he was going. Since he could watch him with his Sharingan, he could strike the moment he saw any irregular activity with the genin. Since he was just a training dummy, Shihouin wouldn’t have to worry about that. With a push up from underneath, Shihouin would spring up from the earth at a high speed and aim a fist, or a kunai at his opponent. From his position underground, reacting would be difficult unless the opponent had some preconceived notion of the attack. However, Shihouin realized that it would leave him open to attack if the opponent did or had the proper countermeasures for such an attack already prepared.


Following suit with his earth techniques, Shihouin focused on a technique that would allow him to create strength and lots of defensive power. With the needed snake hand sign only, he would be able to block against all taijutsu attacks and even be safe from sword based attacks that tried to cut his body. The Domu technique was extremely useful in that it would allow him these advantages, but one of the shortfalls of the technique was chakra loss. Focusing on adding chakra to his body, Shihouin began to prepare the molded chakra needed for the technique.

Manipulating the chakra on his body into earth to harden it had an awkward feel to him. It didn’t feel natural and felt as if he had stiffened of some sort. Making sure he had performed the technique correctly; he tried one more and mixed Doton chakra with his body. The skin on his body turned a deep shade of dark brown, almost as if he had blackened from too much heat exposure. Testing the strength out, Shihouin would take out a kunai from his pocket and slash it across his neck and his face, only to receive a bunch sparks. Having the advantage of hard skin was great. It could be used in smaller scales with smaller amounts of chakra as well to supplement taijutsu attacks. Jabs with hands now became more like spears, since the hardened earth would allow him to pierce through skin with ease. Kicks, punches, and all would be amplified and offer him an insurmountable defense against most attacks. Though he did realize the disadvantage was lightning and getting caught up with a lightning attack would possibly prove horribly fatal and maybe even result in permanent loss of limb or any affected body part. All in all, it was still a jutsu worth having. Shihouin begin to exercise with it a bit more, testing its strength has he impaled the ground a few times, seeing how far he could go into the earth with it. He squared off into a light taijutsu match with the genin, using more taijutsu now that he was confident with his own body. With some gloves on, it would be impossible to tell that he was even using the technique at all, the only way someone would be able to know is if they had abilities that allowed them to see or notice chakra, or simply just looking at his face to see if his skin had turned darker. The strength the technique granted was massive, with this technique walls and normal doors stood no change. It would be too easy for him to obliterate a wall in a matter of seconds with a simple punch. He’d also decided that using this jutsu to crush things was excellent as well.

Next up was a ninjutsu technique which involved knowing the skill of the Sharingan and how to use it to read opponents movements. It used small bits of chakra and key control, and with the Sharingan Shihouin could do this technique with ease. With the special shuriken, Shihouin threw the blade towards the genin as he instructed him to dodge the shuriken at all costs. Controlling the weapon from his position, he could use the wires to his advantage by watching the genin with his Sharingan. Though the tool didn’t have any speed of its own, a good throw always ensured that the shuriken would travel its furthest.

Once the shuriken had made its way through some of the movements of the genin, Shihouin pulled back on the wire and wrapped it snugly around the genin, and pulled once more to bring him down to the ground. Of course it had more uses than that, but for now it was good enough. There were several other styles and attack forms which he could use to make the technique that much better but the most of them involved feints and things which would require him to be in the heat of battle.
